Terms of business
Last updated: 6 July 2026. Plain-English terms for Polar Web fixed-price web builds. These sit under our master services agreement with Marketing The Change Ltd, the parent company.
What a pack is
A pack is a fixed scope of work at a fixed price. The scope is written on your quote page: number of pages, features included, launch date. One round of revisions on the wireframe and one round on the built site are inside the pack. A revision means content or layout tweaks, not a redesign. If you want a redesign after sign-off, that is a new pack.
Payment
- 50 percent deposit on quote acceptance, before we start work.
- 50 percent balance on launch day, before DNS cutover.
- Payment by Stripe (card) or bank transfer.
- Invoices are due on receipt. Late payment interest at 8 percent above Bank of England base under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Timeline
The launch date on your quote assumes content and photos are supplied inside the deadline on the content brief. If content lands late, the launch date slides by the same number of working days. We flag this in writing at the point the content is late, we do not spring a delay on you at week five.
Out-of-scope work
Work outside the pack scope (extra pages, new features, redesigns after wireframe sign-off, third-party integrations not on the quote) is quoted as a fixed-price add-on before we start it. If a scope call cannot be turned into a fixed pack, we bill hourly at £75 per hour with a written estimate first.
Ownership
Ownership of the site design and content passes to you on final payment. Until then, the work-in-progress remains our copyright. Open-source components (WordPress core, plugins, themes we build on) remain under their original licences. Stock photography and paid fonts are licensed to your business, not transferred.
Cancellation
You can cancel a build before wireframe sign-off and get half of your deposit back. After wireframe sign-off the deposit is non-refundable, since the work is done. If we cancel a build (for example if the scope changes so much that a fixed price is not honest), we refund the deposit less any work already delivered on the plan.
Hosting handover
The site launches on Pressable (or your host of choice) with the account in your name. You own the hosting contract. We can manage hosting through an optional care plan, otherwise you deal direct with the host.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute falls to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer rather than a business, your statutory rights are not affected by this clause.
